The assignment for the Who Am I includes providing the positive thought at the beginning of the meeting and introducing guests and visiting Rotarians during the meeting.
The Tijuana Milenio Minarete Rotary Club asked for our assistance last week to help fund a summer camp week for kids in their area. Summer camp in Mexico is very affordable in US Dollars and our club quickly contributed enough funds to send 15 kids to camp. 2015 - 2016 Rancho Bernardo Sunrise Rotary President Alison Farrin began her year as president by representing our club by riding in the Spirit of the Fourth Parade in Rancho Bernardo on Saturday afternoon, July 4, 2015. Each year our new club president is introduced to spectators at this parade. Many spectators shouted words of appreciation and encoragement as Alison's car passed by.
International Youth Symphony
From July 12 through August 2, District 5340 will again host 13 guest student musicians taking part in the 11th Annual Youth Exchange MusiCamp in partnership with the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory. This year there are thirteen international students attending camp from Canada, Czech Republic, Ireland, Germany, UK and Spain.
The partnership between Rotary District 5340 and the San Diego Youth Symphony and Conservatory was the brainchild of Past Rotary District 5340 Governor Bill Sturgeon. MusiCamp was the first Rotary Youth Exchange with music as the central theme. Performances will include a free performance on 21 July in the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Part as part of the Twilight in the Park Concert Series and the main symphony concert on 25 July at the California Center for the Arts in Escondido. Tickets for the Escondido concert are available through the San Diego Youth Symphony.
