House Build in Mexico Rescheduled
The Project Mercy House Build in Mexico that was to occur last Saturday, March 12 has been rescheduled for April 23. Rain on Friday March 11 made conditions at the building site too muddy and with the possibility of further rain, the project was rescheduled during the day on Friday.
March Board of Directors March Meeting
The monthly meeting of your Board of Directors will be this Thursday, March 17 at Craig Brown's office on Bernardo Center Drive (just north of McDonald's) at 6:00 pm. This ia great opportunity for red badge members to meet one of the requirements for getting their blue badge. All members of the club are always welcome at board meetings, but if you plan to attend, please let Allison or Craig know in advance.

Rotarians at Work
Saturday, April 30 is Rotarians At Work day. Save this date and plan to take part in this event. Our club will have 2 projects that day. Both will require only 1/2 day participation. The first project is at POVA for building a shade structure. The other project is working at Ronald McDonald House. Our club has had Rotarians at Work projects at both of these locations in the past.
POVA is Poway Valley Therapuetic Riding Center. This 501 (3)(1) organization began several years ago very quickly after Ingrid Mourey, a certified therapy assistant spoke to our club about starting a therapy riding location in the Poway area. At that time she was working at a center in Fallbrook. That location was far enough away to make it difficult for families that needed this treatment. Some members of our club networked with people they knew in the community and within weeks a location was found and Ingrid had help she needed to create a business plan, file for the proper nonprofit designation and learn how to do fundraising. Our club and other resources in the community helped Ingrid get a quick start. Since then PoVa has grown and has become a very valuable therapeutic opportunity for autistic children and others locally.
Ronald McDonald House also has a connection to our club. Several years ago RB SunRise Rotary has their first project for Rotarians at Work at Ronald McDonald House. At that time we refinishe the picnic tables and repaired toys. We also prepared lunch for the guests. Subsequent to that time, Laura Mello benefitted from being able to use the facility there during the time that her premature daughter, Grace, was in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Interestingly Laura was the one that had set up this project.
District Training Assembly and Grants Seminar
This Saturday, March 19, our district is holding the annual training assembly and grants seminar. The assembly is an opportunity for ANY Rotarian to learn about Rotary. It is especially important for board members to attend because the training is intended to train board members to be effective in their various board responsibilities. The $25 cost for the assembly is paid by the club for all members who attend.
The grants seminar after lunch on Saturday is training for how to do what is neede for district and global grants. Our club must have at least 2 members attending this seminar in order to be eligible to do any grants in the 2016-2107 Rotary year.
