The assignment for the Who Am I includes providing the positive thought at the beginning of the meeting and introducing guests and visiting Rotarians during the meeting.
Another Rotary year has come to a close and we will begin a new Rotary year tomorrow. Our own Carl Kruse has "passed the torches) to next year's District Governor Louise Andres at the Governor's Dinner last Tuesday. Karen Mortimer and all of the other new club presidents were also "installed" at that meeting. Our club no longer has the banner designating us as the home club of the District Governor. Our club members (16) symbolicly passed the banner to La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary club, the home club of 2014-15 District 5340 District Governor, Louise Andres.
The Governor's Dinner is the time each year that various clubs are recognized for their achievements. It is also the time that Rotarians in the district are honored by RI for their efforts over many years of "Service Above Self."
However, do you know why the Rotary year ends on June 30 every year. Do you know when this was established and why? To learn about how this all came about, check out this article at Rotary.org: Why Does The Rotary Year Ends in June?
The Rotary Theme for 2014-15 is Light Up Rotary. RI President Gary C.K. Huang says that one light dispells darkness and when we combine our light with light from others, our combined light makes a significant difference in the world.
This is the time of year that all clubs around the world are required to submit a Semi Annual Report (SAR) Because of data integration via our ClubRunner website, the SAR can be submitted electronically. However, what we cannot know is whether all of the information on the roster of our website is actually accurate and up to date.
Since you can edit your profile, please verify and/or update your profile. Please use all of the tabs at the top of the page. For example, for many of you, your sponsor is not listed. Please fill in all of the information blanks especially birthday and anniversary data. You will have to put in the full date, but this information is only accessible by club officers. Having this correct information lets ClubRunner automatically generate demographic data that your president or president-elects have to supply occasionally have to supply to the district or RI. Demographic data includes age distribution and gender distribution of our members. It never includes specific information on each member.
Thank you in advance for maintaining accurate contact and other information on your profile.
