Program for Tuesday, July 12, 2016
There is no program for our meeting on July 12, 2016 because President Craig Brown will hold his first club assembly. Club presidents are required to hold several club assemblies during their year in office. The purpose of a club assembly is to give club members a chance to hear what is going on in the club, ask questions, and provide input on various topics that are discussed. At regular meetings there isn't time to do this. Don't miss this meeting because you will learn about our club.
Although our president for Rotary year 2016 - 17, Craig Brown, presided at our last meeting of June, he didn't officially become president until July 1. This year, as is the tradition for many years, our new President is introduced to the community by riding in a car in the Spirit of the Fourth Parade on July 4. Friends and residents of RB get to see who is associated with RB Sunrise Rotary.
This year, in a break from tradition, President Craig elected to invite club members to a club social event at his home instead of having a meeting in the morning. Club members gathered at Craig and Bridget Brown's home in Poway at 6 pm. It was a time for members to get to know one another and formally meet our president. Everyone brought food to add to the Mexican food provided by Craig and Bridget.
As President this year, Craig will be very busy. Craig is the divisional vice president and board member of Skyline Home Loans. Several years ago, Craig merged his mortgage company, Rancho Financial, with Skyline Home Loans, and only recently formally change his business name.
Craig is a long time resident of the area. He grew up here and the Ed Brown Senior Center is named for his father, who was a major force in getting that facility added to the RB Community Park on the northern end of West Bernardo Drive.
In addition to his business, Craig is involved in many community groups in our community.
The Spirit of the Fourth is the organization that holds the Fourth of July celebration in Rancho Bernardo. RB Sunrise has been involved for many years. In previous years, Jay Riordan and Kendra Jeffcoat were announcers in the parade to let everyone know background on all of the groups participating in the parade.
RB Sunrise member, Jay Riordan, rode in the parade this year because he was inducted into the Rancho Bernardo Hall of Fame.
Other volunteers from RB Sunrise helped with traffic control for those wishing to park on the parade route.

The results are in. RB Sunrise Rotary Club was second in the district in attendance for June 2016. See the results in the table below. This result is just one of facts about our club that has made our club strong in the last few years. Congratulations!
On August 16 2016, our district will hold the first District Council of the the year. The location is the Paradise Point Resort on Mission Bay. The event starts will a social time and check in at 5:30 pm. Dinner will be at 6:00 pm and the program will follow at 7:00 pm. The speaker hasn't been published, but I have heard that Shelly Zimmerman, Police Chief for San Diego, will be speaking.
Come and get to meet and become friends with Rotarians from around the district. This is also a way for those with a red badge to earn points for their blue badge.

One tool is a "cover letter" that you can customize by adding your contacts name and address (open and look at it!! You will see what I mean) for all your friends, family members, neighbors & business owners in the area that you are emailing or mailing the sponsorship requests to.
Other tools are two versions of the "Sponsorship Form" and event "Fact Sheet" for you - one is both documents combined into (1) 3-page document, and then in case you want to print some - the same documents are attached a two separate documents. (Just in case you lost that last email)
Our goal is to raise $75,000+ this year. That is 50% more than last year. We have more Rotarians this year than last year, and the event has growing momentum... With the event being moved to Webb Park we will be establishing a phenomenal annual event for our community. It should be easier than ever for you to bring in those Sponsors!!
Remember, the best way to get more sponsors is to ASK. In person and by phone, you never know which one of the people you interact with each day is just waiting for the opportunity to participate.
