Program for Tuesday, Aug 2, 2016

Last week Pres. Craig announced that we would be having our official DG visit.  When we checked the schedule, we learned that our DG visit has been moved to Oct 11, 2016.  Of course, that set up a minor crisis and Kim Muslusky and others have been diligently trying to put together a program.  At this writing, there are a few option, so we can all just attend tomorrow's meeting and see how the morning develops!

Date Who Am I? Rotary Minute
8/2/16 Rob Weinberg Kim Varey
8/9/16 Jim Dunny Jim Dunny

The member assigned to Who Am I is also responsible for providing the positive thought at the beginning of the meeting and introducing visiting Rotarians and guests.

The member assigned to Rotary Minute is the assigned Greeter for that day and also is tasked with selling opportunity drawing tickets.

RB Sunrise Learns about Residential Solar

Sinue Montoya, Residential Solar  consultant with Baker Electric Solar
At the July 26, 2016 RB Sunrise Rotary Club meeting, Sinuhe Montoya, a consultant at Baker Electric Solar (“Baker”), spoke about residential and commercial solar energy programs.

Baker is a family-owned business that has been doing business in Southern California for over 78 years.

Sinuhe started out by asking the question, “Does solar power make sense for everyone?”  He explained that if a family is spending more than #130 per month and is not using electricity for such things as air conditioning, a solar installation in the home would make sense.  However, solar would not be a cost effective alternative for a family that normally pays less than $130 per month in electricity.

He went on to explain that Baker uses a wide array of components in designing solar systems.  For example, solar panels do not always have to be on the roof; the integrity of the roof and aesthetics of the home are always considered in creating solutions to make sure the best fit is matched with the correct system.

Sinuhe then spoke about different financing mechanisms in purchasing a solar system that fits each individual homeowner.   Homeowners may pay cash, self-finance, or even choose a monthly leasing option with no money out-of-pocket.  There are also three financing options, including a Warranted Solar Loan, PACE Financing, or an Unsecured Loan.  An added bonus to purchasing a system is a federal tax credit which gives back to the homeowner 30% of the cost of the system in the form of a tax credit.

Sinuhe concluded by explaining that the breakeven point after purchasing a solar system is approximately 6 years, depending on the system and how it is used.

Rancho BEERnardo Sponsor Tools

BEERnardo Sponsorship drive is here!!

Last week, Gordy sent the Sponsorship Form and event Fact Sheet to you. Click the links below to get the Sponsorship Tools.

One tool is a "cover letter" that you can customize by adding your contacts name and address (open and look at it!! You will see what I mean) for all your friends, family members, neighbors & business owners in the area that you are emailing or mailing the sponsorship requests to.

Other tools are two versions of the "Sponsorship Form" and event "Fact Sheet" for you - one is both documents combined into (1) 3-page document, and then in case you want to print some - the same documents are attached a two separate documents. (Just in case you lost that last email)

Our goal is to raise $75,000+ this year. That is 50% more than last year. We have more Rotarians this year than last year, and the event has growing momentum... With the event being moved to Webb Park we will be establishing a phenomenal annual event for our community. It should be easier than ever for you to bring in those Sponsors!!

Remember, the best way to get more sponsors is to ASK.  In person and by phone, you never know which one of the people you interact with each day is just waiting for the opportunity to participate.

Thanks in advance - this years BEERnardo will be the best yet!!

Let us know if you can think of something that will help us all promote this event and find this years Sponsors.
