Stories
Last Thurday's edition of the Rancho Bernardo and 4S Ranch News Journal had a great front page article about our upcoming Rancho BEERnardo Festival Tasting.  The headline - Rancho BEERnardo returns with an IPA focus. Gordy did a great job of providing details about our event, including the fact that in additons to many IPA beers there will be other beer types as well as wines.  Gordy said that The Urge American Gastropub would be providing food for purchase and the there will be several bands to add to the festive atmosphere.

Gordy also mentioned that our club has a connection with the Sikes Adobe Historical Farmstead venue because we helped the Escondido club erect the working windmill in 2005 as well as doing cleanup at the site as a work project.

Do all your friends know about this event?  Word of mouth advertising is the best way to promote our event.  We will be getting volunteers from AAUW who are excited about being able to help us.

REMINDER - there will be a work party at the Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead to prepare it for our Rancho BEERnardo Festival event on Saturday, September 27.  The work party will begin at 8:00 am and last until the work is completed (probably shortly after noon, depending on the number of workers available.)

Here is a list of tasks that will need to be done.
Weeding and some Tree trimming
Laying down DG (decomposed granite- if it gets delivered)
Painting a deck for Sikes Adobe, and some interior paint
Moving a few park benches
Any other site clean up necessary
Review of parking and tent layout for the following week

Please dress appropriately, and bring water, snacks, sunscreen, gloves, and a hat for yourself. Also bring , brooms, shovels, rakes, clippers (small and large), any other gardening tools you have, sand paper, paint brushes, rollers, trays, and other painting tools and clean up items.

You can participate even if you didn't sign up in advance.  Just prepare as outlined above.  Because of the possibility of heat, the more volunteers that help, the less work there will be for everyone.  Come and enjoy working together to help make our fundraiser a success!
“Invisible Threat,” is a documentary produced by a group of broadcast journalism students at Carlsbad High School was funded by a The film takes an unbiased look at the debate over vaccine safety. A no-strings-attached grant of $60,000 from several San Diego-area Rotary clubs in 2012 funded the project, and the sponsors are proud of the results. Unfortunately, controversy delayed the film’s public release until last month, when it was posted online.
