Pres. Karen getting the news of her "demotion" from Past President, Steve Sayler
RB Sunrise Rotary Club announced on Saturday, June 13, 2015 that club president Karen Mortimer will be relieved of her duties as president on July 1, 2015. President-elect Alison Farrin, will replace Karen as the chief executive of the RB Sunrise Rotary Club. President-elect Alison recently returned from her official visit to the Rotary International Convention in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Former District 5340 Governor and past president of RB Sunrise Rotary Club, Carl Cruse made the announcement of the demotion and also officially installed Alison as president of the club. President Karen will be required to fulfull her duties during the remainder of her term of office as president until July 1.
The above tongue-in-cheek report is a light hearted announcement that is meant to contrast to the announcement made by the San Diego Padres today that they have fired manager Bud Black. Our club has been preforming much better than the Padres, so we have a more orderly succession plan.
On Saturday evening, club members and guests were treated to the usual merry making at the expense of the outgoing president-roastee. This year's skit was a takeoff on the Jeopardy quiz show. There were some clever and hilarious "answers" that the "contestants" had to think of the correct answer in the form of a question. In a more serious tone, President Karen was recognized by proclamations from the San Diego City Council, the San Diego Board of Supervisor and the California Assembly.
President Karen, in her remarks, outlined for our guests the accomplishments of the club this year. Since we have embarked on the goal to move our club forwared, the year's accomplishments were evidence of progress toward our long term goals that were actually established by past president, Jim Stewart.
In attendance to experience our club's fun evening were District Governor, Louise Andres and her husband, Steve; incoming District Governor, Janice Kurth and her husband, Matt, and our club's Assistant Governor, Dave Brooks.
