There will be no speaker on Tuesday, Jan 28, 2014. Instead we will be having a service project - assembling educational supplies for the students at Abraxas High School. Because of budget cuts, there is no budget for teachers to order classroom supplies such as pens, paper, pencils, erasers and other office supplies .
Instead of a speaker or discussion at our regular meeting on Jan 28, 2014, we will be doing a Community Service Project. Our club has partnered with one of our local High Schools, Abraxas High School in assisting them to provide much needed school supplies for their classrooms. As we all know, school districts throughout the region have been significantly impacted by district budget reductions. Many of the areas teachers, staff and administrators are in need of simple classroom supplies to help them do their jobs – teach our children!
Specifically, we are seeking donations of classroom supplies from you for the following items:
• Copy paper and Note pads
• Writing instruments (pens, pencils and mechanical pencils) and Erasers
• File Folders and Note Books
• Loose-leaf paper (college rule and wide rule)
• Highlighters, Spiral Bound or Composition Notebooks
• Staples, Staplers and Paper Clips
• Rulers, Scissors, and Glue Sticks
• Protractors and Compasses
• Calculators, Binder Dividers and Index Cards
• Dry-Erasers and Markers
• Tissue Boxes, Combination Locks and Calendars
• Other misc. supplies
So, please plan on coming to Tuesday’s assembly meeting (same place and time) and bring with you as much stuff as you care to contribute! We’ll be busy putting together some “grab bags” of stuff for this much needed cause! Your donation will dramatically make a huge difference for our teachers, students and as a result, our community!
