Thousand Smiles Dental Clinic Completed in Ensenada
Kim Muslusky posted the picture above in our club's FaceBook page of the completed Thousand Smiles dental clinic in Ensenada. This new facility means that Thousand Smiles can treat patients in their own clinic without having to schedule treatment elsewhere. Kim thanked the many Rotary districts that contributed funds to make this clinic a reality. We will look forward to hearing more about this milestone for Thousand Smiles.
President-elect Mike to attend Southwest PETS this coming weekend.
President-elect Mike Moffat will be attending Southwest PETS Seminar this coming weekend at the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) Marriott. All president-elects in Southern California will be attending this seminar for mandatory training to get them ready to lead their clubs in the 2018-2019 Rotary year. Rotary provides this training every year so that every club president-elect can be successful in leading their club. Mike has a step up on achieving the goals for our club because of the support our officers and members give to each of our presidents. Let's give Mike a great send off at tomorrow's meeting.
For the 10th consecutive year, The Rotary Foundation has received the highest rating — four stars — from Charity Navigator, an independent evaluator of charities in the U.S.
In a letter to the Foundation, Charity Navigator notes that "only 1 percent of the charities we evaluate have received at least 10 consecutive 4-star evaluations, indicating that The Rotary Foundation outperforms other charities in America. This exceptional designation from Charity Navigator sets The Rotary Foundation apart from its peers and demonstrates to the public its trustworthiness."
The rating reflects Charity Navigator's assessment of how the Foundation uses donations, sustains its programs and services, and practices good governance and openness.
Rotary provides for training at every level of leadership. We recently had the RI Assembly here in San Diego that provided training to DGE's from around the world. President-elects are required to attend PETS (President Elect Training Seminars prior to their year as president. Likewise Rotary Districts provide District Training Assemblies for club officers and committee chairs.
This year's District 5340 Training Assembly will be held at the Joan Kroc Center on the USD campus on Saturday morning, March 25. This seminar will be followed immediately by the Global Grants training seminar. Every club has to have at least 2 persons attend the global grants seminar in order to be eligible to participate in obtaining and administering district and global grants.
